Careers and Job Hunting Strategies Beyond the L in LIS (library and information science)

Home ServicesArchive of Continuing Education EventsCareers and Job Hunting Strategies Beyond the L in LIS (library and information science)

This webinar was recorded on Monday, November 15, 2021, for Empire State Library Network.

Event Description:
During this pandemic, job hunting has shifted the job market, and it isn’t easy to predict what will happen next. Are you wondering where the jobs are and what you can do to prepare for a job search? Perhaps you are focused on what jobs are available to people with library degrees that aren’t necessarily in libraries. And you may be reevaluating what you want out of a job/career. Join Naomi House, founder of the popular webzine and jobs list INALJ.com (formerly I Need a Library Job), as she discusses how the pandemic has affected what we consider desirable traits in our workplaces and jobs, changed what we are willing to do to land a job, and shares her experiences and tips for how and where to search for library and LIS (library and information science) related jobs.

Brief bio:
Naomi House, MLIS, is the founder of the popular LIS jobs resource INALJ.com which is about to celebrate its 11th anniversary. INALJ has had over 20.75 Million page views and helped thousands of librarians and LIS folk find employment! Naomi believes that well-sourced quantity is quality in this narrow job market. She was a Library Journal Mover & Shaker and has served on the University of Maryland iSchool Board. Previously she was a Librarian in DC, CMO of T160K. She now lives in the Southern Tier region of NY State, having recently returned from Budapest, Hungary.
