The Hurley Library
The Hurley Library seeks an enthusiastic, forward-thinking full-time Library Director or Manager. Located in the heart of Historic Hurley, we are a Special District Library, are part of the Mid-Hudson Library System, and serve a population of approximately 3,000 people.
Duties include:

Preparing and overseeing the budget

Developing employment and service policies

Selecting library materials

Performing reference and referral services

Strategic planning
-
Community, public and governmental relations

Reporting to the Library Board, Mid-Hudson Library System (MHLS), and New York State (NYS).

Ensuring compliance with laws

Grant writing

Hiring, firing, motivating and scheduling staff

Overseeing the operation of the library building and grounds.

Overseeing and scheduling of library programming.
Salary: $50,000-$53,000 based on education and experience.
Benefits: Two weeks paid vacation, one week sick time and one personal day. Options for medical benefits, participation in New York State Deferred Compensation and Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
Minimum Qualifications: Master of Library Science or Master of Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program is preferred and/or 3 years of progressively responsible library administrative experience. This is a competitive Ulster County Civil Service Position.
