  • Work collaboratively with the Board of Trustees as thought partners, maintaining regular and transparent communication
  • Lead strategic planning efforts and implement board-approved goals and priorities
  • Develop and manage the library budget in collaboration with the Director of Operations, along with the Board of Trustees
  • Seek and secure diverse funding sources, including grants, philanthropic support, and public funding
  • Oversee all library operations, programs, and services along with the Director of Operations
  • Supervise, mentor, and support library staff while fostering a positive, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture
  • Evaluate community needs and develop new programs and services accordingly
  • Promote innovation, modernization, and thoughtful adoption of new technologies
  • Recommend and help guide renovations, updates, or capital improvement projects
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited program (required)
  • Experience in library administration and staff management
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with boards, staff, elected officials, and diverse community members
  • Knowledge of current and emerging library technologies and trends
  • Experience managing large or complex projects
  • Experience with major renovations or new construction projects preferred, but not required
  • Experience in fundraising, grant writing, or securing public funding preferred
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is excited to bring fresh ideas and a modern perspective to Rose Memorial Library, while respecting and strengthening the strong relationships already in place. They value collaboration, communicate openly, and understand the importance of partnership between staff and board in achieving shared goals.
