The Philmont Public Library is hiring a part-time library clerk to join our team. We are seeking an individual with strong customer service skills and an ability to work well with others as well as independently. A friendly demeanor and love of libraries is a must!

Responsibilities:
● All circulation duties: included but not limited to checking items in and out, pulling holds, processing materials, registering patrons, collecting fines, shelving and shelf maintenance and answering inquiries about library offerings
● Patience, adaptability, and attention to detail are essential
● Create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for all patrons as they enter the library, ensuring they feel valued
● Engage with visitors of all ages and backgrounds, assisting them in navigating library resources and services
● Communicate effectively with colleagues and patrons in-person and digitally to ensure smooth operations and collaboration
● Perform additional duties as required, including but not limited to registering patrons for programs, recommending books and more

Minimum Qualifications:
● High school graduate or equivalent
● Strong customer service skills; previous experience in a library, or working with the public preferred.
● Basic computer and internet proficiency with a willingness to learn new technologies and library software.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor.
● Ability to engage positively with patrons and collaborate effectively as part of our library team.
● Punctuality and consistent attendance are essential.

Position is for 8-12 hours per week with potential for more hours. Applicants must have the ability to work some Saturdays.

Starting salary is $16.50 hr.
