2022 Year In Review

About the Keynote:
Serve our Community Creatively by Thinking like a Designer
Can our programs and service be thoroughly planned AND get off the ground quickly? Keep our community at the center AND be creative. Absolutely! Design thinking, a technique taken from software and industrial design, can help us start fast and learn faster, all while keeping the community at the heart of our work. In this keynote presentation, Dr. Audrey Barbakoff will help us learn to weave empathy, flexibility, and responsiveness into our program planning to sustain and grow successfully.
Here’s a bio:

Dr. Audrey Barbakoff is the CEO of Co/Lab Capacity LLC, which provides community-centered consulting for libraries and social good organizations. She has over a decade of experience in public libraries, where she held various roles in adult services, youth services, collections, Bookmobile and outreach, and administration. Throughout, she focused on community partnerships and leadership. Her innovative and inclusive work has been recognized by Library Journal Movers & Shakers, the Kitsap Peninsula Business Journal 40 Under 40, the Freedom to Read Foundation, and the Urban Libraries Council. In addition to her MLIS from the University of Washington, Dr. Barbakoff holds an EdD in organizational change and leadership from the University of Southern California. Her dissertation research focused on building organizational capacity for equity, diversity, and inclusion in public libraries through community-led programs. She is the author of Adults Just Wanna Have Fun: Programs for Emerging Adults and the forthcoming book Twelve Steps to a Community-Led Library. In her spare time, she writes for children; her first picture book, The Schlemiels Save the Moon, is forthcoming in Spring 2024. Find her at www.colabcapacity.com.
