Job Opening – Clerk
Part-time position

Starting: 15 – 20 hours per week
Salary: $15.50 per hour

Hours:
• Days – Monday through Saturday; weekly schedule is a combination of day shift and evening shift hours.
• Some Saturdays
• Evening shift is until 8 pm

Schedule may vary

Brief Synopsis of Duties
Circulation desk duties: included but not limited to checking items in/out; pulling items that have been placed on hold; data entry; operation of library equipment and cash register. Perform relevant searches for requested items through the online library catalog and internet; assist at programs; monitor public computers and other duties as required.

Physical Effort
• Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time
• Walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, grasping
• Lifting and transporting moderately heavy objects up to approximately 40 lbs.

Job Requirements
• Computer competency and general office skills experience such as scanning and using a fax machine
• Excellent data entry skills
• Enjoy working with children and the public
• Have strong interpersonal skills
• Professional demeanor

• Good sense of humor
• Available days, nights, and/or Saturdays
• Must be at least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or GED

Nature of Work
This position performs skilled duties requiring adherence to accuracy, timeliness, tact, and confidentiality standards. The work performed requires the ability to move and shelve heavy books. This position works on a varied schedule and includes some weekends.

Essential Functions:
Position requires the ability to communicate orally and in writing; retrieve and accurately return books to shelves; type, operation of a computer, and operating knowledge of the library circulation system.

Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED required
• Some college and/or library experience preferred

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.50 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
