Regional Resource Sharing Update

Regional Interlibrary Loan Directory

The new online regional interlibrary loan directory currently being constructed, now has more than two hundred entries. Although it is not yet complete, library staff can begin using it to search for contact information for other libraries in the southeastern region. The directory is available at http://othello.senylrc.org/ill_dir/.

When would you need to use this directory? If you need to call a library before initiating an interlibrary loan request to that library, you could find the name of the person to call. If you need a library’s fax number for interlibrary loan, then the directory will help.

Has your library filled out a survey form? If not, please go to http://reg.senylrc.org/directory.html.

Regional Interlibrary Loan Listserv

Recently, I began notifying interlibrary loan staff in the region regarding the survey for the new interlibrary loan directory. In order to reach everyone, I mailed cards to interlibrary loan staff in the region. Messages were also sent on available listservs. However, it was not easy and there was no quick method to reach all regional interlibrary loan staff. It was time for a listserv dedicated just for interlibrary loan staff in the more than 500 libraries in the southeastern region to facilitate notifications and communication to regional ILL staff. The Regional Interlibrary Loan Committee, although concerned about the quantity of email that people already receive, agreed that a regional interlibrary loan listserv was needed.

Now, we are collecting email addresses for a new listserv that will be dedicated to issues and notifications regarding interlibrary loan in the southeastern region. If you have not already sent your email address to Southeastern for inclusion in this listserv, please go to the SENYLRC listserv subscription page found at
/about/listserves/index.htm and select ill-seregion from the dropdown menu.

If you have questions or comments about the regional ILL directory or listserv please contact Judy Fischetti at (845) 691-2734 or email <Contact Judy>.
