HLSP Marketing and Promotion Committee Wins Award

In May, SENYLRC librarians Stuart Moss, Kathy Fiola, Maryallison Farley and staff member Patricia Carroll-Mathes attended the Medical Library Association (MLA) conference in Washington DC. Along with the many educational activities, classes, and meetings, another popular event was a marketing materials contest. Participants brought multiple copies of their own promotional pieces for display and to exchange with others. Entries were evaluated in several categories by a Chicago public relations and marketing firm that consults for MLA. Kathleen Fiola, Helen Hayes Hospital, prepared documentation to submit an entry on behalf of the Hospital Library Services Program (HLSP). The item, which was a calendar that the Marketing and Promotion Sub-Committee had designed to publicize National Medical Librarians' month, won third place in the regional libraries category. HLSP librarians who attended MLA were pleased to bring back this good news to the other members of the committee: Ann Blish (retired), Twila Snead, and Mary Jo Russell. The Marketing Committee will promote this award-winning piece for use in the HLSP libraries for National Medical Librarians' month in October.
