SENYLRC program on E-Books – Opportunities for Academic Libraries

We are planning an informational program on ebooks for academic librarians in the region. The program will introduce librarians to the current state of the ebook marketplace, including models for purchasing and licensing, both for the institution and as part of a consortia. Following the meeting and luncheon will be two tours - one of the new Thomas Jefferson Library and Learning Center and a walking tour of the surrounding campus buildings.

This survey is for all current subscribers to the FirstSearch Base Package with Wilson Full Text, which is partially subsidized by SENYLRC. The Technology Review & Advisory Committee (TRAC- the SENYLRC committee that recommends the use of automation subsidy funds) has a few questions for you. A few years ago the the Southeastern NY Library Resources Council purchased several of the Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL) titles, which appear in the same list with the titles offered by NOVELny. Beginning on April 1, 2009, GVRL titles will no longer be offered through NOVELny, but the SENYLRC titles will remain.
