Do you have historic newspapers on microfilm? Have you ever thought about digitizing them for greater access? If you have, then this information session is for you!

The Southeastern NY Library Resources Council (SENYLRC) hosts and maintains the HRVH Historical Newspaper portal (http://news.hrvh.org) and can assist your organization in making digital versions of your local newspaper available to a world-wide audience.

There are many factors to consider when planning a newspaper digitization project. Come hear staff at SENYLRC and its partner organizations share their experiences in developing the HRVH Historical Newspapers portal (http://news.hrvh.org).

The goal of this session is to help staff at libraries and cultural heritage organizations plan for a newspaper digitization project for inclusion in HRVH Historical Newspapers.

Topics covered will include: selection, evaluating microfilm, technical specifications and standards, working with vendors, and quality control.
