The following information is for libraries interested in subscribing to and renewing electronic resources from SENYLRC.
Please note that the resources offered here are
general SENYLRC offerings and the Hospital Library Services Program provides specialized
offerings, but on a calendar year cycle. These forms are also on the SENYLRC website at
http://www.senylrc.org/services/electronicresources/hospitallibraries.htm. Please
complete the appropriate forms and return them to SENYLRC by June 20, 2008. SENYLRC
charges a 1% administrative fee for electronic resources.
-Electronic Resources Directly Subsidized by SENYLRC
The Technology Review & Advisory Committee (TRAC) selected the following databases to
subsidize with Regional Automation (RBDB) funds.
1. FirstSearch Base Package with Wilson Full Text. Now in its 8th year!
Subscription year: July 1, 2008 – June 30, 2009.
The consortium price per library is $1,147. The SENYLRC subsidy pays $647 and the library
pays $500.
2. Gale Virtual Reference Library: Now in its 3rd year. Encyclopedia of World Biography
NEW supplements through 2007, Worldmark Encyclopedia of the Nations, and UXL Encyclopedia
of Science. SENYLRC subsidizes the entire cost of these GVRL e-books. There is no charge
to libraries. These e-books are listed with the other GVRL titles that are part of the
state-funded NOVELNY collection.
-WALDO – Resources Available from SENYLRC
SENYLRC continues to work with WALDO (Westchester Academic Library Directors
Organization) through a NY3R’s/WALDO partnership. WALDO contracts with library vendors to
provide volume-discounted rates for various electronic resources and library services.
Libraries that subscribe to electronic resources that are negotiated by WALDO will be
invoiced by SENYLRC through this NY3Rs/WALDO partnership. In this arrangement the renewal
cost for resources includes a 5% administrative fee from WALDO; 20% of this fee amounts
to an additional administrative fee of 1% for libraries in the SENYLRC region.
Libraries in the SENYLRC region can subscribe to electronic resources and services from
many vendors through these volume-discounted contracts. Complete lists of vendors that
have contracts with WALDO are on their website at: http://www.waldolib.org/databases.asp.
WALDO will send renewal notices directly to the contact person at each library in June,
2008.
Please contact Rob Karen at WALDO (800-326-6495 or rob@waldolib.org) for assistance with
new orders, renewals, or other questions about WALDO resources.
If you have any questions, please contact me by email (mailto:killian@senylrc.org) or
phone at 845-883-9065.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackWill this process be the same for renewals in 2009? Can we expect new invoices coming to us in April or May?

Yes, the process will be the same for 2009. The renewal notices will be sent first, asking you to indicate if you plan to renew or not. Then we send the invoices. The renewal notices are usually sent by the end of April.
