¿No Comprende? Spanish Health Information Resources for English Speaking
Librarians Workshops will be held at SENYLRC and the Finkelstein Memorial Library
in Spring Valley.
Do you have a Spanish speaking population in your community? Do you need to
find health information in Spanish but don’t know where to look? If so,
then this class is for you. Participants in this hands-on class will be introduced
to online resources for basic, library, medical and technical (web and computer-related)
Spanish vocabulary. You will also learn to evaluate and identify health websites
in Spanish to which you can direct your patrons.
Denise O’Shea, Technology Programs Coordinator for the National Network
of Libraries of Medicine, Middle Atlantic Region located at The New York Academy
of Medicine is the instructor for this program. Ms. O’Shea holds an M.L.S.
from Rutgers University Graduate School of Communication, Information and Library
Science, as well as an undergraduate degree in Spanish and Communications, also
from Rutgers. In addition to her experience in public, academic and special
libraries, Ms. O’Shea has almost 10 years of experience in IT consulting.

There is no fee for this program.
