PubMed Workshops at SENYLRC
Do your patrons need clinical health information for their own needs or for
research on the high school and academic level? Are you already using PubMed
but would like to know about new features? Two PubMed workshops will be held
at SENYLRC on March 8, 2005 with a snow date of March 9, 2005. PubMed is the
National Library of Medicine's search service that provides access to over 15
million citations in MEDLINE, PreMEDLINE, and other related biomedical articles
back to the 1950's.
The morning class (9:30 am – 12:00 pm) is geared for librarians from
all types of libraries who are interested in learning to search PubMed. The
class will cover basic searching techniques, automatic term mapping, searching
with MeSH and other PubMed searching procedures.
New Features in PubMed is the topic for the afternoon class and is meant for
library staff already experienced in searching PubMed. It will be held from
1:00 PM-2:30 PM with a time for Q & A from 2:30 pm – 3:00 pm. The
new look of the PubMed search page will be highlighted. The capabilities of
the new MyNCBI, which replaces Cubby, will be explored. Other enhancements such
as the spell-check feature and the email feature will be demonstrated.
